Change is Inevitable, Embrace it

There is one thing I always tell my kids "Change is inevitable, embrace it". Changes can be hard but if you listen, you will learn what the change has to teach you. On the flip side of that, if you don't listen you will have to repeat until you learn the lesson.

Big change for us this year, we moved from our incredible, gorgeous, spacious house in Saratoga Springs into the city. We went from daily views to die for, plenty of room to move around in 4300 sq ft and being surrounded by loved friends. We are now in 2800 sq ft , middle of the city, view of a school yard and at what I hope is the tail end of a remodel. When we moved into the house on August 9th, the master bathroom was in a pile of rubbish in the middle of the front room floor which eventually made its way to the front lawn. I cried, lots of times....then I cried some more. Nothing seems to work right or come together in a timely manner. Remodel shouldn't be this hard. Here is my lesson......I can live with less, I don't need things to make me happy and living in close quarters is bringing us closer together. We no longer retire to our corner of the house, every corner is everyone's corner of the house. I am even starting to get used to no doors on the rooms (they are in the garage!). Its a challenge but I know its a springboard to our future plans of living in Huntsville full time. Oh, and I miss knowing my mom is downstairs tucked away in her apartment. Miss her daily.  So Draper is our new adventure!

We have been so blessed to have great adventures this summer even though the move has really taken it out of us.

Uinta Backpacking trip with the Trolls

Many Great Sundays at Snowbasin Resort!

Have to throw this one in there. This is my fabulous nephew Kayl who we love and adore. He hasnt been able to be around much but when he can......it feels like my family is complete.

One of the happiest days of my life, watching the dumpster finally drive away!

This is how our children were watching TV. Still makes me giggle

The disaster in the front room on move in day. Whoa

The rubbish made its way to the front yard. We made a good first impression on the neighbors!

Summer fun with the Percells!

Never ending yard work in Huntsville. We actually love it.

Notice my sweet Ranger Danger in the background. He is very much missed, we lost him before the Draper move. He is forever in our hearts.

Our little Miss is in Third Grade this year. Man, she is beautiful! She still knows she melts our hearts.

Monster is in Kindergarten this year! He is adjusting however its a challenge when you dont like being told what to do. Love this little man!

Caleb is a Jr and killing it in school! AP classes already. So proud of him. Morgan is living with friends and working as a painter. I miss him every day but know he is on his own life journey. Blessed to be their mom. Oh so blessed.

Summer is in Full Swing!

Summer has begun for the Lake Mountain family and its turning out to be a fabulous season! I am in love with the sun and the flip flop tan lines are getting darker. The last winter box was taped up this afternoon only to be opened once the snow flies again. I love this time of year!

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to do some backpacking. We were challenged with the snow still on the ground and had to be selective on where we went. I had poured over hiking books in our area and picked out a few trails I knew I could do but the snow was an issue, so Dean picked the route. That being said, I should have expected I would think I was going to stroke out on the trail. Dean is a seasoned backpacker, me, no...this was my first trip. It was straight up for three miles, the last stretch being the worst! When I pulled up the ratings on the hike its rated as difficult. Who does that to their girlfriend on their first trip? Dean does...that's who. Between catching my breath by stopping every 50 feet and laughing the entire way with Dean, I truly enjoyed myself and felt blessed to be in Gods great country!

I obviously didnt know what was ahead of me at this point. Parking lot getting ready!

Dean and I

Caleb is amazing. He hung out with us for about a half mile then climbed the mountain like a goat! Loved spending time with him even though he didnt really hike with us, he is still awesome.

Breathtaking....or wait, maybe I was just out of breath period.

I love this man, especially when we hike together. What a guy!

Caleb relaxing in his element. I love this picture of him, all that's missing is his guitar.

Two weeks ago we headed off to Colorado to watch my beautiful sister marry her partner Melissa. Welcome to the family Melissa! We are a crazy bunch of people but we will keep you entertained.

April Sue
So proud of her for being her and finding the love of her life!

April and Melissa. Dean was the photographer and I am trying my hand at photo edit. So much fun but mind bending for me.

Ryker during the ceremony. He had the hardest time sitting still so we stood in the back and goofed off.

Kaylee Fo Faylee....always photogenic!

Morgan and Ryker

Guster and Caleb goofing around before the wedding.

The Sisters! April, Melissa, Me and my other beautiful sister Leslie

Dean and Ryker, I am pretty sure Ryker ate a dozen deviled eggs

One of my favorite places to go is Pearl Street in Boulder. There are so many different shops and street performers. Oh....also a fabulous bar with great oysters...great memories in that place.

Quick stop at Ben and Jerrys for some naughty ice cream

My fabulous sister Leslie feeding that baby boy what he wants!

Auntie April hooked her up with a Fairy costume! Oh how they both love Fairy's

I cant think of anything better than laughing with your daddy!

Last but not least! We were blessed to be able to spend time with Blaine, Cristin and their amazing little family. We had so much fun with them and cant wait until our next visit. We took the kids to Lagoon and watched their smiling faces all day long. Wonderful visit from the Berminghams!
